Unlock your full potential.
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Carolyn Stern, Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Development Expert, professional speaker, and university professor. As someone who has always been interested in personal growth and development, I was excited to learn from Carolyn's extensive experience and expertise in the field of emotional intelligence.
During our conversation, Carolyn shared with me her personal experiences with emotions during her upbringing and how she developed a passion for emotional intelligence. She also provided insight into what emotional intelligence entails and guidance on practical steps individuals can take to enhance their EQ. Additionally, we discussed her first book, The Emotionally Strong Leader: An Inside Out Journey to Transformational Leadership.
Growing up, Carolyn struggled with being labeled as "emotional" and was treated as if it was a negative trait. However, she soon realized that emotions are not the enemy, and expressing them can be a powerful tool for personal growth and connection. For over two decades, Carolyn has used her education and research in psychology, business, and education to teach emotional skills to students and leaders.
One of the things that stood out to me about Carolyn's approach to emotional intelligence is the emphasis on self-awareness and reflection. She stressed the importance of understanding our own emotions and how they impact our thoughts and behaviours before we can effectively manage them and connect with others.
Carolyn also shared practical steps individuals can take to enhance their emotional intelligence, such as practicing active listening, developing empathy, and cultivating a growth mindset. She believes that by interweaving emotional intelligence into every aspect of our lives, we can lead more fulfilling and successful lives.
In her book, The Emotionally Strong Leader, Carolyn offers a comprehensive guide to developing emotional intelligence and becoming a transformational leader. She believes that leaders who prioritize emotional intelligence can create more positive and productive work environments and inspire their teams to achieve greatness.
Overall, my conversation with Carolyn Stern was enlightening and inspiring. Her passion for teaching emotional intelligence, leadership, and team building has the power to transform individuals and organizations.
